Exhibition ‘Women of the Water’ by Mikhailia Petersen & Ben Mall

This October, fine art photographer Mikhailia Petersen and emerging videographer Ben Mall, in partnership with PICHULIK, will launch the much-anticipated exhibition, ‘Women of the Water’ – a reflection of South African women’s ecological, spiritual custodianship of the ocean and its shoreline as an act of collective care.
Join the team for the launch event on Saturday, 26 October at the PICHULIK Atelier, or pop into the store over the weekend to view the photographic artworks.
About Mikhailia Petersen
Mikhailia Petersen is an independent, multi-faceted creative, living and working in Cape Town. Working through the medium of photography, Petersen is skilled in the fields of styling, creative direction and as a stills producer, cultivating a layered means of engaging with projects and work.
About Ben Mall
Ben Mall is an emerging videographer and photographer based in Cape Town. Specialising in portraiture and fashion with a narrative edge, his work often explores themes of identity, nostalgia and contemporary youth culture within the backdrop of Cape Town’s cityscape. He is deeply influenced by the art of observation and the nuances of daily life.
About PICHULIK
PICHULIK is an ethical jewellery atelier based in Cape Town. Rooted in Africa, and inspired by ancient traditions and mythology, PICHULIK uses the language of African artistry and ornamentation to create sculptural accessories that celebrate empowering feminine narratives. Each piece is a talisman, handcrafted from reimagined rope, combined with cast-brass elements, precious stones and unexpected organic materials, to create distinctive and unique forms.
