A4 Arts Foundation — ‘Interior Design’

ACTIVATION

In the A4 gallery, printed matter is explored as a site for artistic production across a trio of installations.

Artist Cameron Platter’s central presentation, ‘Interior Design’, lends the project its name — a title track for the three-part arrangement. This is bordered on one side by ‘Annual General Report’, an open studio in which a board report is reimagined as a high-gloss magazine of features, and a bookmaking exercise on the other continuing A4’s ‘Sightlines’ project. Spend time thinking about interiority and composition (from ‘psychological decor’ to outward expressions) and the tensions between ‘furnishings’ and ‘fine art.’

On Saturday 24 October, A4 launches a zine with Platter titled ‘My Work Here Is Done’, tracing his collaboration with the weavers of the ELC Art and Craft Centre at Rorke’s Drift — a selection of these tapestries appears in ‘Interior Design’. In addition, Makhundai, guided by the code ‘be a good farmer’, stages a clothing pop-up on site.
