Haneem Christian x VAULT ON BREE
ACTIVATION
Design of the Zeitgeist is a two-day cultural activation hosted at Vault on Bree. Curated by Haneem Christian, South African archivist and filmmaker, the experience celebrates the Cape Flats as a space of innovation and cultural influence — exploring how marginalised communities shape South African design, fashion, film and artistic expression.

An immersive exhibition featuring Haneem’s ‘Kewpie se Kind’ photographic series in dialogue with the District Six Museum’s ‘Daughter of District 6’ archive. The evening includes a panel discussion with cultural tastemakers, a denim sculpture by Robyn Sinchui, furnishings by Ronel Jordaan and a DJ set by Queezy.
Intergenerational Workshop — Friday, 23 October 12:00
A daytime workshop bringing together the District Six Salon Kewpie community, alumni and Cape Flats youth to explore how history, identity and cultural memory influence contemporary design.
Together, Christian and Vault on Bree aim to create activations that celebrate the communities and creative practices shaping South Africa’s cultural landscape.
