We will be opening our upcoming group exhibition "In Bloom", curated by Tali Lehr-Sacks, on Saturday the 10th of October, from 10am – 5pm. A walkabout led by Kim Sacks, Tali Lehr-Sacks and a few participating artists will take place from 3pm.

In 2026, Kim Sacks Gallery centres its exhibition programme around Materiality: Land, Process and Transformation — we follow threads of extraction, cultivation and recovery — tracing how matter is unearthed, nurtured, discarded and reimagined. "In Bloom" is the third exhibition in this series – tracing seasonal transformation, growth and excess — how matter 

softens, expands and unfurls. Within the act of unearthing lies the possibility of recultivation — of planting seeds for future growth, repair and rediscovery. This exhibition involves a range of Contemporary South African artists and collectives across different mediums – including ceramics, woodwork, paper, and fibre art. This exhibition calls for reflection on how material shapes thought; how process shapes meaning; and how land and matter speaks through the hand.

The Kim Sacks Gallery was established in 1986 in Yeoville, and in 1998, moved to its present home in the centre of Johannesburg’s “Gallery Strip” in Parkwood. We represent an incredible range of Contemporary South African artists and makers across various mediums – ceramics, wood, fibre, metalwork and beyond. The Gallery also holds Kim Sacks' private collection of old traditional African objects and Artefacts collected over her last 40 years of travels and research around the African Continent. Ultimately, within this space, we aim to bridge the gap between African Fine Art and Craft, highlighting the undeniable creative skill embedded in the fabric of this continent.
