MAKHUNDAÌ “Good farmers fresh produce spring/summer 26”
ACTIVATION
South African fashion brand, Makhundai, hosts a pop up and short film screening experience that takes guests on a journey of what it means to be a good farmer.
Makhundai is founded by Namhla Thiwani and rooted in a personal exploration of identity, heritage and contemporary African design. At the heart of the brand’s ethos is the practice of ‘being a good farmer’: an exercise in patience, staying true to one’s intentions, and continually working towards becoming the person one has the potential to be. In a world were many people must grow themselves within the confines of a bustling city, their ‘crop’ becomes their craft, their practice, or the community fashioned around them — all contributing to this metaphorical farming needed in ones’s life.
Good farmers will interact with a collection of recent Makhundai garments while also engaging in the conversation of being a good farmer as a way to practice sustainability in fashion, especially within production systems.
