Morning Sessions: Can Design Fix Joburg?

ACTIVATION

Johannesburg has always been a city in the making: improvised, contested and constantly reinventing itself. With local government elections approaching, the city is once again at a crossroads. It is more important than ever that the right voices are part of the conversation about what Johannesburg becomes next. Bringing together perspectives from JoburgLAB, CityCon Africa, Girls on Bikes, Jozi My Jozi and Young Urbanists, this panel looks at what needs to happen now, through different lenses on design, mobility, public space and city-making. More importantly, it asks how we can shape Johannesburg into a more liveable, inclusive and safer city, and how the city itself shapes the people who live in it.

Thireshen Govender — JoburgLAB
