‘Trains Over Everything’ celebrates 20 years of train graffiti in Cape Town, spanning 1998 to 2018.

The exhibition looks at a defining period in the city’s graffiti history, exploring the writers, work and visual language that developed around its trains. More than a collection of graffiti, it offers a glimpse into a specific time, place and community, and the role trains played as moving canvases for a generation of writers.

Presented at Shelflife Gallery, the exhibition returns to the graffiti culture that helped shape the brand’s beginnings. Over the past 20 years, the brand has grown from its early beginnings in graffiti and spray paint into a globally recognised destination for sneakers, streetwear, art and design.
