Sun Stories: On Common Ground

ACTIVATION

Sun Stories presents ‘On Common Ground’ in partnership with Curación Collection, hosted at Curación Gallerie.

The exhibition returns to the vessel, one of the oldest and most universal utilitarian forms, tracing what is inherited and carried forward, in both the objects we keep and the surfaces they are made from.

Founded by Kobe Darko, Sun Studio is a material-focused ceramics studio working between London and Accra. It makes pieces for interiors of every kind, where contemporary design and traditional artistry meet in balance. Alongside its own work, the studio cultivates and represents independent talent. Each piece traces back to both the earth it came from and the hands that made it, an approach the studio calls Inspired Living.

Across its own collections, Sun Stories treats material as method. Onua pigments the clay itself, toned to honour the lands it was foraged from; Archive II merges Mediterranean and West African identities, old shapes given new bodies; and The Fold, making its debut, lets form and surface speak as one, horned vessels whose marked skins fold animal and human in a conversation on identity, lineage and family.

Represented artist David Obeng Adane’s ‘In My Family House’ carves traditional household forms in intricate detail, finished to the grain of aged wood, where the domestic and the ancestral meet on a single surface.
