Superella x Third Floor Studios

Superella and Third Floor Studios are proud to present a collaborative project for this year’s Design Week South Africa in Cape Town.

Superella is a proudly South African brand founded by Ella Butler, focusing on hand-made garments. Ella’s clothing champions inclusive designs, natural fabrics and comfort.

Third Floor Studios is a dynamic group of eight emerging artists based in Woodstock. Working in a variety of mediums, their practices range from the traditional — painting, sculpture and print — to the more experimental.

In order to engage with the theme ‘The Shape of Us’, each individual artist has chosen a garment provided by Ella which they have designed to reflect their current studio practice.

This collaborative project culminates into an open studio event in which these unique pieces are shared with the public. A guided walk-about gives insight into their artistic process and materiality. In addition, this event presents a selection of artworks for sale, as well as a pop-up featuring a selection of Superella’s creations.

This event is open to the public and free to attend. There will be a security guard at the door at the ground floor of the building who will direct guests to the third floor for the duration of the open studio.
