The Art Vanguard SA — IN HABIT

Presented by independent cultural platform The Art Vanguard SA, IN HABIT is a curated spatial experience bringing contemporary art and design together within an imagined interior at Maison Bottega. Responding to Design Week South Africa 2026’s theme, The Shape of Us, the activation explores how the spaces we inhabit reflect identity, memory, belonging and everyday life.

Across the experience, artworks, furniture, objects, lighting, textiles and sound will come together through three spatial environments: GATHER, DWELL and COMPOSE. Together, they explore social connection, personal space and the process of making.

The experience opens on Thursday, 8 October, with a First Thursday opening gathering, followed by the spatial experience from 9–11 October. The programme will include opportunities for conversation and exchange around art, design making and the spaces we make our own.
