Wunders is thrilled to announce the launch of MakeSpace, the newly created ‘waste department’ led by acclaimed designer Heath Nash. The name was carefully chosen to reflect the brand’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and the act of literally making space in the business for growth towards more circular manufacturing.
Join the team during Design Week South Africa, powered by Yoco, where over four days, Wunders will showcase their freshly curated window displays at their De Waterkant showroom.
As part of the event, they will be holding a silent auction, featuring one-of-a-kind furniture pieces made from archival chair samples, found objects, and factory ‘waste,’ designed and crafted exclusively for Decorex 2024 by Heath Nash x Wunders.
About MakeSpace
Reimagining upcycling by using offcuts and other material resources generated at the Wunders factory, the MakeSpace creates new opportunities for the local design community. This initiative explores the immense potential of transforming overlooked materials into striking new designs, while addressing environmental challenges through creative thinking.
By harnessing materials left over from producing Wunders’ unique, customisable upholstered furniture, MakeSpace aims to inspire change and demonstrate the power of design-led action and the importance of the design process. We look forward to showing how creativity can breathe new life into discarded materials and reshape the way we view waste.
