The Activation
Shot in 2024 and now internationally nominated, Gadat House is thrilled to invite you to an intimate, exclusive screening of Amalahle: A Vaal Story on 12 October. Presented at Mamakashaka during the prestigious Design Week, the project explores the paradox of tradition and modernity through a high-fashion lens, examining the complex relationships between those without and those with, how we define luxury, and how to tell local stories through fashion. For one night only, attendees can explore the garments from the project, learn about the origins of the brand, connect with the cast and crew, and join a post-screening discussion on independent brand building and storytelling.
The Brand
Gadat House is a luxury brand founded in Johannesburg, born from a desire to redefine luxury- not as something exclusive to the West, but as something rooted in our local environment and community.
The brand ensures that the profits from high-fashion, well-crafted, ready-to-wear, and custom garments circulate back to empower the people and communities essential to the industry.
By platforming voices that are often unheard or unacknowledged in high fashion, Gadat House confronts the lack of representation, particularly the scarcity of appointed women creative directors, by creating its own platforms and opportunities.
Ultimately, the brand tells African stories visually, through a distinctly high-fashion lens.
