The Activation
Join Jan-Dirk van der Walt of SALT Architects for a guided walk-through of 21 Loader Street in Cape Town’s De Waterkant. The visit explores how sensitive architectural interventions can honour heritage while introducing contemporary relevance – revealing how design, material, and light negotiate the balance between preservation and innovation in one of the city’s most historically layered neighbourhoods.
Jan-Dirk van der Walt is a director at SALT Architects, a Cape Town-based studio recognised for contextually sensitive and inventive work.
Presented as part of Design Week Cape Town, this event invites reflection on the dialogue between past and present through architecture.
