QUILTED TOTE WORKSHOP WITH CALLIE QUILTS / WORKSHOP
October 25 at 10.00 – 16.00
The Activation
Sandy Harris of Callie Quilts, in partnership with Hemporium and Neighbourhood, will host a hands-on workshop where five participants will create their own quilted tote bag. The session introduces the strip quilting technique — a versatile method that makes the most of fabric offcuts, encouraging a low-waste, sustainable approach to quilting.
The workshop is a collaboration with Hemporium, who are generously donating hemp fabric offcuts. Both Hemporium and Callie Quilts share a commitment to quality, sustainability, and zero waste, making this the perfect partnership. The event will be held at Neighbourgood, a creative hub in Cape Town.
What participants will learn:
• How to sew and assemble a lined, quilted tote bag
• The strip quilting technique, adaptable to endless quilt designs and ideal for sewing scraps
• Practical tips for working with colour, texture, and finishing details
This workshop is a celebration of craftsmanship, sustainability, and creativity during Design Week Cape Town. Spaces are extremely limited and early booking is recommended.
